Glossary · Technical
Static site.
A site whose pages are built in advance and served as finished files, with no database and no admin panel behind them. Changes are made by rebuilding and republishing.
Why it matters.
The trade is direct: you give up editing the site yourself at midnight, and you get pages that answer in well under a second, nothing to hack, and nothing to patch. For a business whose content changes through a person rather than a form, it is usually the better arrangement — and it is how this site is built.
How to check it yourself.
Open your site and view the page source. If the content you see on screen is there in the source, the page is server-rendered or static; if the source is mostly empty and a script fills it in, it is not.

Where does your
own site land?
Everything above came from opening real websites. Yours takes ten seconds: we load it the way a customer would and say what we find, including when the honest answer is that nothing needs doing.
